Dental implants in Solna

An implant gives you a fixed tooth that looks and works like your own. Unlike a bridge, the healthy teeth next to it do not need to be ground down.

Dental implants when a tooth is missing

When a tooth is lost, the chewing pressure is redistributed. The surrounding teeth have to bear more, and the jawbone where the tooth was starts to shrink. That is why we see implants as the most reliable and modern way to replace a lost tooth.

How a dental implant works

The implant is a titanium screw that replaces the root of the tooth. It is placed in the jawbone, where the titanium fuses with the bone. The new tooth is attached on top.

Titanium screw
Sits in the jawbone and works as a new tooth root.
Abutment
Attached to the screw and holds the crown in place.
Crown
The visible tooth, in zirconia, porcelain fused to metal or porcelain, shaped to fit your mouth.

Implants can replace a single tooth, several teeth or all the teeth in a jaw. We work with the implant manufacturer MIS Implants.

Dental implants step by step

Treatment takes place in several stages and usually takes a few months, because the implant needs time to heal in.

  1. Examination and plan

We go through your health and take a panoramic X-ray and a 3D X-ray to see whether there is enough jawbone. You then get a treatment plan with steps, timeline and cost.

  2. Bone building if needed

If the jawbone has shrunk, it is built up first. The new bone heals for a few months before the implant is placed.

  3. The implant is placed

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. The implant is then left to heal into the bone.

  4. The new tooth

When the implant is firmly in place, we attach the crown, which is made from an impression of your teeth.

Common questions about dental implants

Can’t find the answer? Call us on 08-650 10 60.

How long does the treatment take?

The implant needs to heal into the jawbone before the final crown is fitted. This usually takes a few months and depends on the jaw and bone quality. If the bone has to be built up first, more time is needed. You get a timeline at the check-up.

In some cases, usually for front teeth, the implant and a temporary crown can be placed on the same day.

Does it hurt?

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so you should not feel pain during the operation. If you are nervous, you can be given a mild sedative.

Afterwards it is normal to have some swelling or bruising. It usually goes away within about a week.

When can the implant take load?

When it has healed firmly into the bone. We can measure the stability of the implant with Penguin RFA, a gentle, contact-free measurement. That lets us judge when the implant can take load.

What guarantee do I get?

We offer up to three years’ guarantee on the prosthetic material. Feel free to ask what applies to your own treatment.

Can anyone have implants?

We decide that together at the check-up. Your mouth needs to be healthy first, so cavities, gum disease and inflammation are treated beforehand, and you have a professional teeth cleaning.

Some diseases can mean that implants are not recommended. That is why we always go through your health at the first visit.
