General dentistry to keep your own teeth

Most people with problems in their teeth or gums start with a general dentist. The earlier a problem is found, the easier it is to solve. We use modern methods and modern anaesthesia, so treatment is comfortable however complicated the case.

What general dentistry includes

We treat all common dental problems. If a tooth is too damaged for a filling alone, we place an inlay or a crown.

Cavity treatment
We remove the decayed part and repair the hole with a filling.
Root canal treatment
For inflammation of the dental pulp or around the root, the root canals are cleaned, disinfected and filled.
Prevention
Fissure sealing, and treatment and prevention of dental diseases not caused by decay.

Tooth decay causes no pain at first. That is why regular check-ups are the best way to find it in time. If you have dental anxiety, treatment can be done under sedation.

How cavity treatment works

This is how a filling is done at our clinic.

  1. Examination and X-ray

If the damage is deep, we take an X-ray or a CT scan first and then choose a method.

  2. Anaesthesia

We numb the area and choose the anaesthetic to suit you.

  3. Decay is removed

The decayed part is removed. Water cooling protects the tooth and the pulp from overheating during drilling.

  4. The filling is placed

We fill with a hard-wearing material. The whole treatment is done with a rubber dam, so saliva cannot reach the tooth.

Common questions about general dentistry and fillings

What does root canal treatment cost?

The price depends on how many root canals the tooth has, and a tooth can have up to four. Cleaning and root filling cost SEK 5,000 for one canal, SEK 5,700 for two, SEK 7,250 for three and SEK 7,900 for four or more.

Does the treatment hurt?

We use modern anaesthetics so that you can be treated comfortably and without pain. We choose the anaesthetic to suit you. If you have dental anxiety, treatment can be done under sedation.

How many visits are needed?

It depends on the treatment. Root canal treatment takes time and is often done in two stages, so more visits are sometimes needed. X-rays are used throughout the treatment.

After treatment of inflammation around the root, we follow up with an X-ray after six months to see whether the inflammation has gone down.

How do I know if I have a cavity?

Often you do not notice it. Decay is painless at first. Signs can be white, yellow or brown spots on the teeth, bad breath and sensitivity to cold and hot food. Without treatment the tooth can be lost, so come for a check-up in good time.

What should I do if I have a toothache?

If a tooth starts to ache badly, the infection may have reached the pulp. Do not wait. Call us on 08-650 10 60.

Our treatment aims to save the tooth. Keeping the living pulp is best, but unfortunately patients often come too late, and then the nerve has to be removed.
